July 1st @ 6pm
Roses' Taproom is the culmination of a decade of backyard homebrewing, urban gardening, stove top science, and endless dreaming of opening a grain-to-glass taproom where the trappings of production and the joys of consumption are housed under a single, celebratory roof. More than 200 batches of beer ago, husband and wife team, Luke Janson and Hillary Rose Huffard, planted the seed to design and build a human scale brewery within a bright, airy, indoor jungle of a taproom. Taking our homebrewing ethos of never repeating a recipe, always improving on previous batches, and brewing beers and ciders to accompany the changing seasons, Roses' Taproom was born of an excitement to share the magic of fermentation with the public and build a community hub where everyone feels at home.
Brewing everything from classic provincial beer styles like crisp Kolsch and floral Saison to experimental offerings like Toasted Coconut Porter with lime wedge and pink Belgian Golden Strong Ale brewed with hibiscus and pink peppercorn, it's our goal to continuously surprise and excite beer drinkers and expose non-beer drinkers to this ancient, magical beverage that sits at a perfect intersection of art and science. Our human scale brewery housed within Roses' allows us to be exceedingly playful and experimental in our recipe design, while ensuring that every beer offered is presented at the peak of freshness and perfectly presented. Brewing in a relatively small 7 barrel brewhouse - about 215 gallons per batch - allows us access to ingredients either impractical or inaccessible on a wholesale model, such as seasonal fruits, fresh gruit herbs, and unique cultivated yeast strains.
Roses' Taproom is not your typical brewpub. We are absolutely Beer People, but when looking for a place to enjoy freshly produced, highly curated beers in a beautiful, family- and female-friendly environment, we couldn't find one. So we made our own! Light-filled, pink, and dripping with plants. Come enjoy a pint or three, snack on delicious in-house and locally made goodies and become a mug-club member.
Luke and Hillary met at The Cooper Union where they studied art together in the East Village of New York City. They connected over a shared passion for fermenting and gardening, and developed the idea for Roses' Taproom over the last 4 years. It uniquely leverages Hillary's expertise from a years of restaurant management and service and Luke's years of experience as a furniture designer and woodworker. Together they designed and built Roses' Taproom to be the beer bar and brewery that they always wanted, but didn't yet exist.
